Tyzzer (Harvard, M.D. 1902) was George Fabyan Professor of Comparative Pathology at the Harvard Medical School from 1916 to 1942; taught tropical medicine from 1939 to 1942; and was director of the Harvard Cancer Commission, 1905-1916. He was one of the world's leading cancer research specialists, and his broad research interests included tumors, protozoa, leucocytes, smallpox, blood infections, parasitology, and animal and bird diseases.
